Stainless steel Bollard
for illuminating outdoor spaces
KHORI presented at Euroluce in April 2023 is now available.
A rigorous and pure shape with innovative details.
Like every product in the STRAL range, the KHORI bollard lighting is made of AISI 316L stainless steel and is therefore highly durable and reliable.
One of the most appreciated details of this bollard, is the diffuser of the KHORI D70 version, characterized by a reflective pleating, inspired by the glass of 1970s streetlamps. Using this design, it was possible to measure the degree of side diffusion and increase the degree of reflection in the ground projection, thus improving the quality of lighting.
The transparency given by the glass therefore allowed light to pass through by diffusing it sideways, while the design given by the pleats increased the degree of reflectivity and ensured an optimal distribution of light downwards.
Recalling the excellence of the past with a modern reinterpretation combined with technology and newly selected materials is the key to this garden bollard.
Thanks to the appeal of the glass design, light is skilfully managed to achieve a mirrored effect without the use of chrome plating or metallisation, which would entail the use of materials that are difficult to dispose of. An evocation of historical production techniques with a revised function applied to the present.
Inspired by the innovation of the past, using it as a starting point to create something new with the help of cutting-edge materials.
The KHORI D40 bollard lighting, on the other hand, has a slimmer body that limits the ground shadow of the projected light as much as possible. It allows direct and indirect lighting, where part of the light shines on the ground and part refracts on the body, creating a pleasant visual effect on the product.
KHORI bollards, in both D-40 and D-70 versions, are designed to adapt to different contexts, private, urban and historical, but with a precise formal identity that brings with it, also, the principles of circular economy.
In fact, all the products are made with materials and production techniques that imply a lower ecological impact, such as the head of KHORI D-70, where the electronic part is totally encapsulated in a single element that allows its easy replacement at the end of its life. This allows the lamp head to remain intact, replacing only the electronic part. This reduces waste and overproduction.
Whereas in KHORI D-70 the head recalls the excellences of the past with a polycarbonate diffuser, in KHORI D-40, the light directly animates the stainless steel, enveloping it. A thinner body, however, very strong in all its parts.
Both garden stakes bear the signature of Alessandro Zambelli who, once again through the lines and details of the product, narrates the duality within the STRAL brand. A duality that combines production technique and poetics.
The technique draws inspiration from the design peak of the production excellence of the materials of the time, evoked and re-actualised with the help of modern avant-gardes. Poetics is always inspired by Nature, the environment in which all STRAL products are meant to be. In particular, KHORI draws inspiration from the Khorixas petrified forest in Namibia. The trunks of these trees go beyond the passage of time in Nature, maintaining a strong presence that overcomes difficulties. It is a metaphor for the resilience of a product that blends seamlessly into the outdoor environment and blends with it so as not to be undermined by the weather and time that surrounds it.
Steel bollards from the KHORI line can be used for driveway lighting and illuminating gardens, thanks to their elegant and timeless design.
The fact that they are made entirely of stainless steel makes them suitable for homes in seaside resorts, but also in mountains with cold temperatures and the use of de-icing salts.
